Compare VAG Series 25 Maria by Asami Matsumura and VAG 46 Giant Gorilla Franken Mini on artist, color options, and price to decide which mini vinyl figure fits your collection.
Quick answer
Choose VAG Series 25 Maria by Asami Matsumura if you want a color variant from a specific artist and prefer a slightly lower price. Choose VAG 46 Giant Gorilla Franken Mini if you want a single sculpt without color options and a lower entry price.
Artist versus sculpt: what each figure emphasizes
VAG Series 25 Maria is credited to Asami Matsumura, so the appeal is tied to that artist's vision within the Vinyl Artist Gacha line. The VAG 46 Giant Gorilla Franken Mini does not list an individual artist in the supplied catalog, which makes it a choice based on the monster sculpt itself rather than a named creator.
Both are small gachapon figures from Medicom's Vinyl Artist Gacha series, originally sold randomly in Japanese machines. Here you can pick the exact figure or color instead of leaving it to chance.
Color choice changes the decision
Maria offers a color option, so you can select a specific variant rather than receiving a random color. The Giant Gorilla Franken Mini is sold as a single unit with no color choice listed, so you get the figure as offered.
If matching a specific shelf palette matters, Maria gives you more control. If you are happy with the standard release, the simpler option may be enough.
Price and capsule details
At catalog prices, the Giant Gorilla Franken Mini is the lower-cost entry, while Maria sits a little higher. Both come in their original capsule, which matters if you keep packaging or plan to trade.
The price gap is small, so let the artist and color options drive the decision more than the difference in cost.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Artist recognition vs sculpt appeal: Maria comes from Asami Matsumura, while the Giant Gorilla Franken Mini is not attributed to a named artist in the catalog. If you follow specific VAG artists, Maria has the clearer connection; if the monster design itself is what you want, the lack of an artist credit may not matter. Check whether you are buying the artist or the character.
- Color control vs simplicity: Maria lets you choose a color, so you can target a specific variant. The Giant Gorilla Franken Mini is a single unit with no color choice. More options mean more decisions but better matching for display. Decide if color matching is worth the extra selection step.
- Price difference vs capsule consistency: The Giant Gorilla Franken Mini has a lower catalog price, while Maria costs slightly more. Both include the original capsule. The small price gap is less important than which figure you actually want on the shelf. Budget for the figure you prefer, not just the lower price.
